Arseniy Svynarenko is Ukrainian born sociologist and youth researcher, who lives and works in Finland. He has PhD degree from Taras Shevchenko University of Kiev, Ukraine. Arseniy Svynarenko published numerous articles, chapters in books and made public lectures. He teaches at Ukrainian Studies programme in the University of Helsinki. His main research interests are young people’s national identities, values change, generations in Ukraine, Russia, and Finland. He is also interested in contemporary Ukrainian politics and economic development. His most recent research is about Finnish youth short-term employment, values and problems in transitions to adulthood.

    The 2012 parliamentary election is an important step towards the presidential election of 2015. Certainly Victor Yanukovych plans to be reelected to a second term. His strategy for the upcoming years will be to neutralize possible competitors. It is therefore unlikely that Julia Tymoshenko and Yuriy Lursenko will be freed from prison before the presidential election.
