And the right-wing academia immediately joined the voice of the judge in an attempt to use the society’s fear of feminism in order to promote its own research agenda. Thus, a prominent sociologist of family at the Moscow State University declared that proclaimed the Russian trend towards one-child family a social threat resulting from “socio-cultural homosexuality” of which feminism is a theoretical justification:

If there exists any social movement that is openly against family and [higher] birth rates, this is, without any doubt, the practice of homosexuality and the theoretical foundation of homosexuality in contemporary feminism. It should be taken into account that today, feminism is not only a women’s movement but also that of feminist men. And I am happy that it was at my university department that a dissertation criticizing feminism was defended by Thomas Philips (the USA), nowadays professor at the University of Bridgeport, several years ago. For political reasons, Thomas Phillips could not defend his thesis in America. In his book, which we have recently translated into Russian, he proves that feminism is the theoretical justification of lesbianism[1].
